The federal government will match individual donations to registered Canadian charitable organizations for up to $50-million to support humanitarian and early recovery assistance in Haiti.  Canadians have until  February  12 to donate to registered charities, and CIDA will allocate the $50-million.

Cellphone users can send donations of $5 by texting the word "Haiti" to 45678 through a system set up by the Mobile Giving Foundation (http://www.mobilegiving.ca/), a group that enables charities to collect money by text messages.
